Risk Assessment of Tsunamis Along the Chinese Coast Due to Earthquakes

چکیده
Abstract China’s coastal areas are densely populated, economically developed, and located in close proximity to several potential tsunami sources; therefore, risk cannot be ignored. This study assessed of China by developing a framework for assessment from the perspectives hazards, vulnerability, exposure. First, probabilistic hazard (PTHA) model was applied estimate sources both local crustal faults circum-Pacific subduction zones based on numerical simulations. The output PTHA includes wave height distributions along coast. Then, an indicator system reflecting exposure vulnerability tsunamis established using entropy method analytic hierarchy process. findings show that is 3 m southern coast Bohai Sea, Pearl River Estuary, Yangtze Delta exceeds 2 near Taiwan Strait 2000-year return period. results cities at highest level (level I) include Tangshan, Yantai, Hong Kong, while high II) Fuzhou, Xiamen, Quanzhou many Delta, Sea. Our can provide understanding differences between Chinese may affected future.

Synthetic tsunamis along the Israeli coast.
The new mathematical model for tsunami evolution by Tobias & Stiassnie (Tobias & Stiassnie 2011 J. Geophys. Res. Oceans 116, C06026) is used to derive a synthetic tsunami database for the southern part of the Eastern Mediterranean coast. Information about coastal tsunami amplitudes, half-periods, currents and inundation levels is presented.
متن کاملObservations of meteorological tsunamis along the south-west Australian coast
Tide gauge data were used to identify the occurrence, characteristics, and cause of tsunamis of meteorological origin (termed ‘meteotsunamis’) along the Western Australian coast. This is the first study to identify meteotsunamis in this region, and the results indicated that they occur frequently. Although meteotsunamis are not catastrophic to the extent of major seismically induced basin-scale...

data envelopment analysis (dea) is a powerful tool for measuring relative efficiency of organizational units referred to as decision making units (dmus). in most cases dmus have network structures with internal linking activities. traditional dea models, however, consider dmus as black boxes with no regard to their linking activities and therefore do not provide decision makers with the reasons...
Aftereffects of Subduction-Zone Earthquakes: Potential Tsunami Hazards along the Japan Sea Coast.
The 2011 Tohoku-Oki Earthquake is a typical subduction-zone earthquake and is the 4th largest earthquake after the beginning of instrumental observation of earthquakes in the 19th century. In fact, the 2011 Tohoku-Oki Earthquake displaced the northeast Japan island arc horizontally and vertically. The displacement largely changed the tectonic situation of the arc from compressive to tensile. Th...
